Case/Mobo/Graphics Card Physical Compatibility

I'm looking at getting a Rosewill Challenger U3 case for my first build. I have some concerns, that arose when I read some articles and forum posts recently.

People were talking about their graphics cards not fitting in the case.

I was wondering if anyone in the know could clarify if that is something I should be concerned about.

I am looking at the ASRock Z77 Extreme4 for my mobo, and one of the following 3 as a graphics card.

ASUS Radeon HD 7850 HD7850-DC2-2GD5-V2

GIGABYTE GV-R785OC-2GD Radeon HD 7850

XFX Double D FX-785A-CDFC Radeon HD 7850

Could someone tell me if I should be concerned?

Try to find a review for your case, where they clarify the clearance available for GPUs. Then find out how long your GPUs are and VOILA!

That's how I did, worked very well

The newegg reviews, somebody got a Sapphire 6950 2GB OC Edition in the thing. Amazon lists it as a 12.5" card.

Also, Tom's got a pair of 11" cards in there: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/fx-overclock-crossfire-ssd,3098-3.html

I don't know about the cards you linked, except that my DD is less than 12" for sure.

So I don't think you're going to have a problem with those particular cards.

The problem I always (ALWAYS) have is that at least one of the ports or headers on my motherboard gets covered up by the video card. Right now, I can't use my front-panel Firewire connector.

(The last card I had that didn't screw up something was a Radeon 9600XT I bought in 2003.)

Judging by the pictures, though, that looks pretty safe. The SATA ports are flat-mounted and the header pins are all lined up along the bottom. Good design.

karder and Dave, thank you both. I do not know why, but I never get an email letting me know that I have responses to my posts.

Anyway, I appreciate the time taken by both of you in assisting me. I am anxious to have my first build go without incident... almost nervous.

So, in the coming weeks and months, I'll be asking some asinine questions over here.

Thank you again
