Well, my boss gave me this new case to build a pc for internal use. Anyway to keep this short, I have to much damn cale in it. Can i cut an IDE cable with 3 connectors on it? as in cut the cable right after the second connector? will this work? do i have to terminate the end in anyway? The whole point of this is to elminate the amount of cabeling i have in there. I do NOT have any of the shorter IDE cables.

Thanks

well, i just cut the IDE and floppy cable, and tried it and it worked.... thanks for the help............😉

Yes you can cut the cables. I use a single-edge razor blade like a guillotine. Side cutters also work well. Just don't want strands from one wire crossing with another.
. If you don't preserve the twist on the floppy cable, then set the FD to DriveSelect 0 instead of 1. The twist is ancient IBM dummy-proofing so assemblers wouldn't have to set the FD jumpers (sometimes a little tiny slide switch now) - all FDs came from factory set to DS1. Sort of like Cable Select for floppy drives...
