Case headphone jack hookup

Hey, i was messing around with my computer the other day and I happened to realize that the headphone jack on the side of my case doesn't work. So I went in and checked out the hookup, the case is a NZXT Apollo and the motherboard is an asus M2N SLi-Deluxe, and there is a cable with three different parts branching off of it for the jack. One is labeled AC '97, one is HDD Audio I think, and the other branches into a bunch of smaller plugs like when you hook up the Hard drive activity lights or the on/off light. I had the AC '97 one hooked into what from what I can tell is the right pins (Front panel audio in the motherboard manual) and it didn't work with either the AC '97 or the individual plugs (i know i have the pins right; checked the motherboard and case manual). Another possibility could be the settings on my sound card. I have a Creative Audigy 4, with the stock Creative Media Source software. Any ideas?

I believe you need to click Start->Control Panel->Sounds...->Audio and change the default playback device to your onboard audio. Also verify the onboard audio is enabled in your BIOS.

But you probably don't want to do that...instead you'll want to hook directly to the analog pins of the Soundblaster.

But if I change that won't it just go back to my MOBO's onboard sound and make having the Audigy totally useless? And i would hook direct but it's just more convenient because the jack is right on the side of the chassis.

Yup. That's why I said you probably wouldn't want to do this.

Can't properly decipher this, but I'm assuming you mean to plug headphones into the card itself in the rear. The link above is to Creative's forum detailing connecting your chassis jack to the card.
