First post, so be gentle ;)

I'm in the market for a new case and I'm looking at one that I can put underneath my TV in a cabinet. The only problem is that the space there only allows a case of max. 40cm high. And ofcourse I still want to have an ATX case... Does such a case exist?

Thanks,

Q.

well, a typical atx mobo is roughly 30cm x 25cm...i don't see how that can be properly packaged in a case that is 40cm high (i'm not sure if thet are made). maybe a mATX mobo? maybe one of those slim cases on its side?

Well, I do know one case, a Yeong Yang server cube... But as these are quite expensive, I thought there must be alternatives around.
A mATX is no good, as I want to put at least 2 HD's and 3 PCI cards inside (plus some other gadgets, like LCD, etc).

There are a number of them available at places like Directron, but to get the short height, these cases place the PSU sideways over the mobo, which means you'll need a short HSF to fit, and some good cooling.

i believe he implied that you were ignorant of some information.

um, 40cm is really NOT good... it's waaaaay too short. how much width do you have?

you can get a desktop case or lay a tower on its side.

I've got plenty of width (approx 50cm)... And yes, I admit, I could have done a search in Google and get about 42,700 hits... I'm just very new to Athlon's, overclocking and cooling. My current PC is a Intel P90 ;)

Look into the inwin A500 or S500. The A500 is under 40CM, BUT it doesn't have room for an additonal cooling fan in the back. It was a good case back in the day... The S500 is a smidge over 40cm(420mm), but it DOES have room for a fan in the back. Eh.. that's the only two I can think of... If you check out pics of the S500 there are 4 rubber feet underneath..so maybe if you remove them.... it'll fit. I dunno, it's a gamble. You definitely want the extra fan for an athlon system. IMO inwin cases are VERY SOLIDLY built.
