Hey guys
After getting some feedback from natethegreat, operandi, pkme2 in my first thread, I am looking forward to buy the Coolermaster RC-534 (NO PSU) Half Black/Half Silver.
It comes with initially 1 120MM Fan in the front and none in the rear.

I did some search on the forums and i read that the Yate Loon fans have a good quiet noise/good cooling factor.
However, the place where im looking to buy my case does not carry this brand.
I was looking at this 120MM. What do you guys think?
And do you think that the choice of the case I made is a good choice?

Thanks

You can't really go wrong with a sleeve bearing yate loon. There may be ebtter ones available where you live, but unless you're very serious about silencing, you'll be happy with a yate loon. THis is the model number of the sleeve bearing fans: Yate Loon D12SL-12
The arctic cooling is pretty good, but you can only mount it blowing out of the case, because of how the anti-vibration mounting works.

You should also get some rubber grommets to mount the fan instead of using screws.

Do you know any place in Canada (or in the states, that ships to Canada) that actually sell this fans?
and the rubber grommets would be a good idea to have a cushion between the case and the fan right? so that it doesn't "vibrate"

Yeah, rubber grommets prevent vibration, which is usually a large part of a fan's sound at low RPMs. It's also a good idea to mount your HDs on some kind of rummer grommets, it's even more important there.
And sorry, I'm from Europe, so I got no clue where to get these in Canada.

Edit: Just thought of it, you can get them on Ebay.ca of course

The Silverstone FN121 is virtually silent at low speed and moves a lot of air with its nine blade fan.

i recently installed 3 of these (2 intake 1 exhaust) running at full speed. this thing moves so much air i can blowdry my hair if i face the exhaust. then again it is loud. VERY loud at high speed.

How much do you want to pay? The Noctua NF-S12 is the fan with the best flow/noise ratio, according to SPCR.

Price is not an issue to be honnest... I want quality stuff that I know can fulfill what i am looking for

Obviously cheaper the better, but reading on the NOCTUA... 1200RPM moving ~47CFM @ 17db.. thats really good.. and really low noise...
Has anyone tried these?

Ya and there's always ebay.. but ebay = ripoff lol.. I wonder you get it for 4.99$ lets say but the shipping is 11.99.. mmm hehehe

Great, and I found the Noctua where i want to buy my case. That's superb.
I am debatting between the Noctua NF-S12-1200 and NF-S12-800

Should I put a 1200 in the rear and a 800 in the front? the opposite? or 2 x 800? or 2 x 1200?

IMO i say 2 X NF-S12-1200

Also, what about the case, you got any thing against it that could perhaps make me think twice?

The Arctic Cooling 120 is an excellent fan for the money (can get them for <$5. each here at Provantage.com - IDK whether they sell to Canada or not) and is recommended by G-Y (a very fussy fellow when it comes to fans). The company backs it with a 6 yr. warranty and rates it at 400,000 hours!

Where do you live in Can? Near the border? Do you have a friend on the US side? ;) ;), nudge nudge...

IAC, remember that sleeve bearing fans like the YL or AC are best in the vertical orientation. If you have an application where the fan will be horizontal, then a ball bearing fan would be better. And the AC is limited to exhaust applications unless your case has a deep, unobstructed bezel or a special recessed fitting for the fan similar to the Rosewill R560x cases which could use the AC 120 for either or both intake/exhaust.

I live in montreal hehe 2-3 hours from the border.
yea, I plan on putting the fans in a vertical position.
So now we have:
Noctua NF-S12-1200
Yate-Loon 120mm D12SL-12
Arctic Cooling Arctic Fan 12025L

good choices..now to see which one are the most available

You want as much air flowing out of the case as you have flowing in (this includes the PSU fan). Though I have read some articles that say if you have all exhaust fan you get better airflow but this could depend on motherboard and case layout.

I would say if you really want to have the perfect fan setup and don't mind blowing a bit of cash to do it, go and buy the cheapest fans you can and play with different configurations to see what works best for your case.

And as far as fans go, I'm growing fond of Akasa Amber. I had too many Panaflo's go bonkers on me. I got a 120 about seven months ago and it's working like a champ, I just replaced all my fans with Ambers and some rubber fan rivets and now my HDD's (all six of them) are the only thing left that makes any real noise.
