Hi,

I am building a new computer soon and deciding between Mid Tower ATX and Full Tower ATX. I am looking for a case that has good air flow, relatively silent(so I can watch a movie or tv without being distracted) and has looks classy. I am trying to get away from the purely black or white cases. So far here is the cases I've narrowed it down to. I would be interested to hear suggestions for which case you think would be best, even if it's not on the list.

Thank you,

Allan

Where are you located? If you have some BestBuy stores near you, you may be able to get an aluminum full tower made by Lian Li for as little as $50. plust tax. Check out the Rocketfish threads in this section and the Hot Deals section.

Of the ones you listed, I like the NZXT Zero - I don't care for Apevia as I don't like paying for iffy PSUs.

I bought an Aspire (now Apevia) X-Navigator about 2-3 years ago... I was NOT happy with the case. The front LEDs burned out in a week, one of the front plastic covers broke when removing it to clean out dust, and it had tons of (LOUD) 80mm fans. Overall, the case felt flimsy. Their power supplies are known to be horrible too.

If you want really good air flow, go with something along the lines of the Coolermaster Stacker / Cosmos, an Antec 900, or a Thermaltake Armor. Expect them to be somewhat louder and possibly dusty, though. Silverstone makes a lot of really nice cases (haven't used them myself) and Lian-Li is always popular. That Rocketfish case for $49 on clearance at Best Buy is a STEAL.

If you're looking for a more closed design (usually less air flow, not always) look into an Antec P182 or P180B. The P180 you have selected is a nice case, but it doesn't have the motherboard cut-outs for cable management, making it somewhat of a nightmare. You can always do them yourself, though. As I said, expect that the air flow may not be as good, and working inside the case may be much more cramped.

I feel so dirty suggesting it and it has ratehr subdued looks but, sounds like the P182 is right for you. The airflow is good, not top-notch but, good and it's pretty darn quiet. Next on the quiet list that has slightly less subdued looks would be the Cooler Master Cosmos S, still quiet and with slightly hindered cooling due to it's aim at a quiet system but, still not a bad case.

IMHO, If you don't need silent, any case can be quiet with the proper fan selection. I couldn't get your newegg links to work here at work but, I'll try again in the morning to see what you're looking at better.

Hi, Although silent would be nice, I am aiming for quiet. :) What would you recommend for proper fan selection to keep the case quiet?

Thanks

Let's say you need 3 casefans, 3x15$ = 45$. P182 costs 100$ AR. Comes with 3 pretty quiet fans, looks good, is quiet, and easy to work with as well, if you ask me. I basicaly flung all my components in there in 20-30 minutes tops.

Thats going to depend 100% on the case itself. I have a few favorites depending on application like the Scythe S-flex, the Scythe Slipstreams and the Zalman ZM-F3 each for different applications(though there is some overlapping) and the new noctua wide-blade fans seem pretty nice though I don't have any to play with, yet.
