I'm looking for a case that will fit an 8800GTX for my next build. Ideally I'd like a case w/o a front door. Searching I found this thread:

http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview...atid=37&threadid=1958399&enterthread=y

One of the cases that was recommended was the Lian Li 101 which looks perfect except for the front door.

The Lian Li G70 was also mentioned, but it's a bit bigger than I would like.

Is there a case like the 101 w/o the front door? Does anyone know if the front door on the 101 will open far enough to be flush with the side of the case?

The Lian-Li V1000 Plus 2 is the same exact interior as the PC-101, except no door.

I could post another thread, but this one prompts my question.

I've been slowly planning a Conroe build using the 975X chipset. Not wanting to implement Crossfire, and trying to avoid additional complications in my cooling and ducting design, I had latched onto the idea of using an nVidia 7950 GX2 card for graphics.

But then, there was the approaching "horizon" of "Vista" (ha! pun!) and the DirectX-10 feature.

I checked the performance capabilities of the 8800 GTX card, discovering that it outperformed the 7950 GX2 in several ways.

I'm modding a 1995 Compaq ProLiant Server case -- quite huge -- to enable intake fans behind the hard disk hot-swap cage, and some other "silent cooling" innovations.

Would someone explain to me why one would need to find a "special case" to fit an 8800 GTX? I don't get it. Of course, even if hard-disk deployment might interfere with the card because of its length, I think this old case probably has it covered.

So . . . . what's the skinny? What's the scoop?

@Bonzai

It's LONGGG. A lot of cases out there need moding or if your lucky take out removable bays. If it's a large case then more then likley this is not a issue, but these days most people don't want big clunkey computer cases.
