I've been putting it off for a long time but my antec tri-cools in my p180 are starting to squeal, which is a really bad sign. I always see people recommend yate loon fans and the like, but I really don't know good places to buy them. I'm a sucker for newegg and their selection seems spotty at best. Where do you actually get your fans and what kind do you use? Are the premiums like the noctuas worth it? I've never used a fan controller either, but I'd like to have one so I don't have to keep opening the case to tweak things. Any suggestions for a complete newbie to it all?

jab-tech.com and svc.com are my favorites. Newegg's fan prices are a bit high for my liking...

I use a combination of Arctic Cooling ACF12PWM for exhaust and a Yate Loon D12SL-12 for intake in both of my computers. I run almost all the components in both computers passively otherwise so I like to have a near-silent computer. Not sure if the silent but deadly approach is what you want though.

Silent is nice, and I'd definitely like it, but I don't really want to pay $20 a fan either. I was looking at xoxide.com and the prices seemed decent but I'll have to check out the others as well. I have no idea if positive or negative pressure works best in a p180. Do the yates do a good job for the value? On a side note I made the dumb move of throwing a big typhoon in the p180, which totally goes against the airflow design of the case, and my temps have been paying for it ever since. I was thinking about switching out to a core contact freezer since it's a lot easier to mount, I hate the behind the mobo supports on the typhoon.

The best pressure configuration would be balanced with about equal exhaust as intake. Yate Loons do very well for how much they cost. For the price of 5 Yate Loons including shipping at jab-tech, you can get one Noctua plus shipping. Noctuas are great fans I'm sure, but it's a resounding HELL NO in terms of value. The BT is only effective if you have an open or porous side panel like in the CM590 and 690 (about the only instance where those cases wouldn't be retarded) but yes, you should definitely look into a tower style cooler. LGA775 pushpins are a bitch to work with so be patient with those especially on large heatsinks.
