I usually keep mine on but i took some ram out and havnt put it back on. This seems like it would be way better than good ventilation?

This looks better suited for Cases & Cooling rather then CPU Forum
- so i am moving it

You generally get better results with it closed up as you have a pressure differential between the inside and outside of the case, hopefully forcing hot air out. Usually, if you get better results with the case open, you have insufficient airflow in the case.

I get better results with the cases open but also have a dc box fan and a/c as well that give it additional air movement and cooling.

I have an Antec 900 with a 120mm fan on the side panel, I keep all the fans on high, I get lower idle temps with the side panel on. Just thought I'd throw that out there.

hot air would scape easier so id think that opened case would work better, at least thats how i feel when mines open
