What are the important places for fans in a case? I currently have a Xaser III and although I think it looks good, it doesn't seem to have much cooling ability (weak fans). The locations for fans are placed in the following areas...1 at the top, 2 in the back, 2 on the side blowing directly into the mobo, and 2 in the front where the hard drive cages are. I want to replace these fans with higher quality and ask what would be a good placement for the fans because 7 seems excessive. The information that I want to know is basically where should air be sucked in and where should air be pushed out.

You will probably want to set it up with the fans in front of the hard drive cage pulling or sucking air into the case...Same thing with the fan on top.

All all the other fans should be blowing air inside the case.

I really like Panasonic Panaflo's for case fans...They come in "L" (low) "M" (medium) "H" (high) and "U" (ultra) series.

Extremely high quality fans...Papst, then Sanyo Denki, then Pansonic Panaflo's seem to be some of the better fans available.

I use the Panaflo's because they are easier to fink than the Denki's and Papst.

Front fans sucking in air, 2 side's sucking in air, top and back exhausting air. I agree with charlie the panaflo fans are really nice.

Usually it should be a nice flowthrough. Air comes in through the front and out through the back. A side fan or two never hurt, but if they're on intake, make sure there's some more exhaust fans to compensate.
