Case fan recommendations (80mm)

essential

Senior member
I haven?t had to buy case fans in about 4 years since I built my machine. Back then, Panaflo fans were the best in terms of about of air moved and quietness.

Are Panaflo?s still the best or is there something better these days.

Can someone provide some links to some recommendations?

Thanks.

Panaflo's are still great. But as far as 80MM fans are concerned i'd suggest modding the case to take a 120mm fan instead of a weak 80mm fan.

I'm a big fan of Arctic Cooling's Arctic Fan 8s. They're quiet and they have that quirky design to them that allows low noise operation.

Some of the Arctic Cooling fans have a strange mounting so they may work only on exhaust though some are normal that can work as intake or exhaust. I also think that the quiet A-C fans don't push much air and that is a real negative for may low noise fans...

Their ceramic bearings are kind of fragile and often damaged in shipping. The open frame models should be eerily quiet if the bearings came thru unscathed.

This is true. The AC fans are indeed very delicate but I've not had issues with mine so far.

Zepper, one quick question...can I mount a couple AF12s horizontally as exhausts or am I going to kill the bearings?
