OK so my Antec SX830 is getting dusty as hell. The case itself didnt come with filters (I see descriptions of the SX835 that say it comes with a washable filter... what does that look like?), but I put one on in the front of the HD fan, and it has worked very well. For those of you that know about the SX830 or have one, what would you recommend for filling in the lower front fin area... it almost looks like i can fit a piece of standard air filter in there, but i like the material from the 2 fan filters i bought are in... They're about a 1/8" thick, and a bit more dense. Anybody know where I might be able to find some of this material?

0roo0roo was trying to say "Home Depot."

Buy one (or more) of those filters for window air conditioners. Cut them down to the size you need.

(If you go this route, I personally recomend you clean them at least once a week. But no less than once a month.)

Gonna go to HomeDepot and Lowes with a sample of the material from my existing filter, see what they got. I read somewhere else about using panythose... sounds like it would work. I had an idea myself - vacuum bags. Though, they are pretty thick and probably wouldnt promote air flow too well.

personally i use 1" thick furnace filter, its mesh is lose enough that air can travel diagonally through it.. so larger surface area in front of fan is possible. plus i tape it on in a way that the thing bulges out a bit:p its a tad ugly, but it catches loads of dust. i vacumn it each week. there are 3 side fans under that side piece. http://fox302.com/index.pl?s=vf&user=oroooroo&category=Case&file=GhettoFilteredcase.jpg

i figure its helping keep my room clean;)

i'd use a hepa filter, but the fans required to push through that would have to be double stacked and quite powerful

I use heat/air conditioning register filters. They are just the right size to slip into the gap between the case and the bezel. No trimming required. About $4 for a pack of 12.

:) its a pos old case.. 2 80mm 1 92m on side, one 80 top one 92 bottom front. dremeled the case for those, and well.. i couldn't think of a decent way to mount the 1" thick washable furnace filter...and having more surface area esp slightly bulging away from fans...only can be done ghetto style externally :) masking tapes cheap:p

i also have the thin foam stuff, but that wouldn't catch much so i scrapped that idea.

i do swear my room is less dusty now:)

the dream would be a hepa filter level pc. if your pc's gonna constantly spew air, having it clean the air would be a nice bonus. i'm too lazy to do that though
