A freind of mine got a AMD 3200+, a evga 6800gt sli, and put it in an asus k8n sli board and he has it all nice and neat in a viper case, he has a temp issue, or so i think, his ambeint temp is 43c and his GPU idles at 60c steady but he has an airconditioner in his room and it is friggen cold in there about 65f degrees. shouldnt his setup be a bit cooler than what it is, he has three fans, one on the side that is offset to blow on the card and a 120mm in the fron and a fan in the rear they are all bloweing in to the box. would he get better cooling if he had an exaust fan rather than 3 intakes? I think so but he wont listen, what do you guys think?

thanks

He should have the rear fan as exaust. When theyre all blowing in the only place air can exit is through cracks and such plus the PSU. Ideally you want slight overpressure, but not have the sides of the case bulging out.

I told him about the overpressure theory, he says that his can has a vent on the top, it does but i couldnt feel any warm air coming out, his room wasy cold and my room is sweating hot and we have the same temps, also he says that the pcie version runns hot anyway is that true.
i am getting a case that has 7 fans in it, do you have any recomendations on how i wouls accomplish that?
thanks

Im not sure about the PCIe part running hotter.

What case are you getting?

Generally, front and side fans blow in, rear and top exaust. You ideally want slightly more air going in than out, it keeps the i/o ports and gaps between drives etc free from dust.

You may have top experiment a bit, especially with the top fan, sometimes having that blow in is better, depends on the case and ps and such.
