Case fan control

I recently purchased an antec 120mm casefan. The fan comes with a 4 pin molex plug and a little 3 pin connector for the mobo.

How would i go about setting this up in order to control the fan speed? I tried plugging the molex into the mobo and controlling with speedfan but it didn't work. I also tried plugging the 3 pin (monitors the rpm on the mobo and speedfan but not sure if it can actually switch the speed) and the molex 4 pin into the mobo at the same time. That didn't work either.

Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks.

Is the fan a Tricool or an ordinary model? If it is a tricool, it has a three position switch on it for low to high speed settings. Low and Med are usually pretty quiet. For mobo speed control, the fan has to get its power from the mobo as well (all three wires connected to the mobo). Tell us which model number or name Antec fan you have?

I generally don't buy fans that lack standard 3-pin/3-wire fan connectors or I put them on myself as I almost never connect a fan directly to PSU power.

According to the instructions on the Antec web site, it has an inline adapter that you can unplug the Molex and speed sensor only right off leaving you just a 3-pin connector with all three wires in it to hook to mobo or other fan connector. Should be obvious. I can see it at the left side of the fan in the pics on Antec's web site: http://www.antec.com/us/produc...ails.php?ProdID=75003#
