Case Dilemma - CM WaveMaster, TT Tsunami, SS TJ-05

I am currently in the market for a new case for my new build, and have narrowed it down to three choices - CM WaveMaster, TT Tsunami, and SS TJ-05. I really want a case that looks simple yet classy, runs quietly, and is built well.

Below are what I believe to be the pros/cons of each case. Please refute or agree with my claims, because right now I'm at a deadlock as to which case to get:

CM WaveMaster:
Pros - looks great, able to hit the power/reset button without opening the door, CM is supposed to have great build quality, although the WM has had some issues.
Cons - Cooling ability is suspect, runs on 80 mm fans, which could be noisy, possibly suspect build quality on this particular model.

TT Tsunami:
Pros - Great build quality although TT's quality is suspect, scored extremely high in AT's case roundup, looks decent, excellent cooling.
Cons - Some question the silence, unable to access power/reset without opening the door.

SS TJ-05:
Pros - The perfect case in terms of everything it offers - looks, cooling, silence, etc.
Cons - Case is 4.5 inches longer than all other cases.

If you have any additional cases to look at (Lian-Li cases with doors are out of my budget), please suggest them. Any additional input would be appreciated.

Thanks.

The SS TJ-05 case is by far the best of that batch, although the WaveMaster certainly isn't bad. A lot of people say the Tsunami is good, but I'm with you - I steer clear of Thermaltake whenever possible.

I say grab the SS TJ-05. It's head and shoulders above the other two.

Thermaltake is known for rating their fans at much lower decibals than they really are, so if you want a quiet case i'd avoid the thermaltake one.

I'd say get the Silverstone. Yes it's tall. But is has the most forward thinking of the lot.

One small word of caution, make sure you pick a heatsink that works with the air duct; I've read that the XP-90/120 have the fins oriented in the wrong direction for best cooling.

Good luck.

Actually, the issue with the SS is the LENGTH. Most cases are 18-19" long (deep), but the SS is 24.3" deep. It's that's a good 5-6" longer than most other cases. I wondered if the specifications were accurate, but from what I understand, they are quite accurate.

Otherwise, the case from what I've read, is the perfect case for that price-range.

If you can afford that SilverStone, then you can afford THIS Lian-Li which is affordable, cheaper, and most importantly, just plain better. If you don't get this case, then you're crazy!

Two 120mm fans that are supposed to be quiet and it has a window!

A window is not a plus on a case.

Why not?

I love the window on my case, it's very hard to see through a solid door when checking fans, is for me anyway. I'll take a quick peek anyday over removing a door.......

Centurion 5 with good fans is VERY able in the cooling department.

The rig in my sig idles at 28C and under load rarely breaks 40C.

You all must think I'm anal...well I am.

I want a door to hide the drives. It looks a lot better when the drives aren't in use. Plus, that's less opportunity for dust to get in.

So yeah, the Antec P180 looks pretty cool, but it sounds like it'll be expensive, and won't be out for another few months.

Got any opinions on the WaveMaster? Worth it or not?

What duct?
You're thinking of the TJ-06 not the TJ-05.
The heatsink orientation isn't an isthue with the TJ-05.

The P180 is tentatively priced at $169 and scheduled for release in February...why that starts tomorrow.

The WaveMaster is a decent case. My wife loves her's but it's old school now. There are better ones already available plus a few nice ones coming. The TJ-05's dual 120mm fans and the better build quality make it a better case IMHO.
If you just can't wait...you'll probably be happy with the WaveMaster.
I'd go with the TJ-05 or the P180

I own a company that does custom case work.
We prefer the SilverStone hands down. The owners of SilverStone are
a spin off of CoolerMaster. They took the best of both worlds in my opinon and made a bad ass group of cases.
You can see them here..

Although we was pretty fond of the old CoolerMaster 110....The SilverStone SSTJO3 works great with the 120mm fan.

the SST-TJ03 is the only SilverStone case I actually think is better than CM

but the Wavemaster is a gorgeous case, I love mine.

If you want silence, you should definitely get the new updated TJ05 with the stamped fan grill removed. Looks like Newegg has them, but they all come in windowed version only.

Older TJ05

New TJ05
