Case/cooling for high room temps

I have an old Lian-Li PC86, which seems to be not good at cooling, but I can't
be sure.

First, I have the Abit NV7-133R, which has CPU heat sensing issues. I think a
+12C error in the beginning, maybe +4-6C after the new BIOS.

Second, in the summer, my room gets up to 85-90F.

So in the summer, idle and light use is ok, but not great. With gaming and heavy
load, I see CPU temps of 80C and above. So what I do is pop the side panel off
and use a house fan to blow air directly on the CPU.

The heat sink on my AMD 2000+ is not stock, but a seemingly above average
copper based one.

Anyhow, I'm upgrading everything.

I'm looking at the Lian-Li PC60B Plus because it has a fan with a CPU duct. I'm
hoping that this can take the place of my house fan. :)

With a really good heat sink/fan and really good case cooling (non-water), is
gaming at room temps of 90F possible...I hope?

i think the best thing you can do is to go out and buy a window mounted air conditioner. you wont be able to cool lower than the ambient temp, so the lower that is, the better.

That was my first inclination, but I have one of those odd windows. They are vertical,
and swing out, not slide. So an AC would require new windows.

I've also thought of a floor standing/portable AC, they are quite expensive ($300+),
and come with a large hose that needs to be vented out a window--so the same
window problem exists.

It may come down to replacing my windows, but I'm trying to avoid that.

How do you sleep with that heat???? PC needs to be as low as possible (on floor) and you need a a/c unit installed. If not I would go water.

Would a water cooled system help? If no, would a water cooled system with some sort of refridgerant to cool the water help.

If you can't tell I know nothing about water cooled systems, so if my idea is all wet, well, be gentle, I'm just trying to help. :)

1. A duct is a good cheap way to get fresh air where it's needed.
2. The absolute best that water can do for you is "room temperature"...
That's the "best case" scenario.

jbdan: How do I sleep when it's 85-90F? Very uncomfortably! But I've been doing it
every summer for many years. It's how I keep so slim.

expertnovice: Watercooled would be a solution, but just not something I want to get
involved with. I'm sure I'd spring a leak.

bushman, theman: A window AC is my first choice. It's just that I don't own this house
and the windows would need re-working. I guess I will see what the owner has to say,
or pony up for a portable unit. (Wall unit? Sounds like I'd have to put a hole in the wall.
I'm positive the owner would frown upon that)

Thanks to all that responded.
