I'm building my new rig and had picked up an Antec Super Lan Boy from a friend and bought a board/cpu/ram off the forums here.

Now that its together the Sunon 120 Intake fan is a little too loud and I'm looking for idea on if I should just replace the fan or get a controller to slow it down.

The fan is the sunon KD1212PTB1 which is rated at 3100rpm 90cfm flow and 44.5db.

I'm running a soltek 754 nforce3 250gb board with a 64 2800+

Thanks for any ideas on if a controller would slow it down enough to reduce the noise or if I'd be better off replacing the fan.

I would suggest just getting another, quieter fan rather than trying to silence a Sunon.

I was able to lower my 40db panaflo sound by installing a simple fan speed controller into the case.

That thing - and it actually matches up with the case incredibly well, same aluminum color + blue glow.

Now my case has better airflow and sounds better than the original case fans, so, i can't complain. (My CPU fan is the loudest thing when its necessary)

I had 4 noisy (but relatively powerful) 4300RPM 8cm Sunons in my older system that became much quieter after adding a fan controller to that system.
