I have selected a Lian Li V Silent PC-V1100B ATX mid tower case for my new system. The power requirements for all the components come in pretty high, so I selected a PC Power & Cooling 1k watt power supply. Will it fit in the case I selected? The dimensions of the ps are 5.9 x 3.4 x 9.1 inches. If this isnt' the right case, how can I tell if it will fit? Thanks.

The main components are:

ASUS A8N32-SLI Deluxe Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce SPP 100 ATX AMD Motherboard
AMD Athlon 64 X2 4800+ Toledo 2000MHz HT Socket 939 Dual Core Processor
XFX PVT71UZDD9 Geforce 7950GX2 1GB GDDR3 PCI Express x16 XXX Video Card
Creative SoundBlaster X-Fi Elite Pro
Raid drives @ 10000rpm
DVD and CD burners/readers
9-in-1 USB 2.0 Card Reader/Write + Floppy

Plugging everything into a power supply calculator (including room for expansion and plugging in things like my iPod, external hard drive for backup, etc), the total came to ~700watts. I need a ps to support these components and also an eye for the future if I go quad SLI.

The Power Supply is 9" long + some room for the cabels...I looked at a few pics of your case at newegg...I'm not sure you have the room with out modification...Judging from the pics anyhow (it's tough to tell)...I can't find any dimensions on Lan li's website...If someone that has one could measure that PSU bay for you that would be Kewl...

But...If you can live with it...You could loose that (Drive Bay??) and move those 2 panels out of the way...They *appear* to be rivited in from the pics...Not too tough to remove if that is the case...Or..I wonder if you could scoot those two (Drive Bays??) forward?? That way you could keep both of them...Looks like a fan would need to be moved in order to do that...But if you needed all of those bays??

I had to do some modifying to get this beast into my ASUS Vento 3600 case also...But it was worth it im my opinion...

Have Fun with your new Rig!!

you can easily remove the divider and hard drive cages from that case with 2 screws and no modification

Welcome to the AT Forums.

If the idea is to build a quiet system, then one could hardly call the PCP&C 1kw unit "quiet". Save money and have a quieter system by using two PSUs - say Seasonic S12s,Fortron Epsilon series, or some Zippys... At least one of them would fit in the supplied space without any modifications. Where to put the second one would be an "interesting" technical project... ;)

I was just thinking that you might want a case that is built to hold two PSUs like the CM Stacker STC-T01.

Have to agree with Zepper here...
That'd be the easier and quieter route.

Stacker is a good choice, as is the PC-G70.

I put a PCP&C 1kW power supply inside of a PC-201B Lian-Li case. I had to remove the middle fan bracket in order to make it fit. I also have a PC-101B which uses almost identical insides to the V1100B, and it is a good deal smaller than the PC-201B. Looking at that I can guarantee you WILL have to remove the rightmost of the 2 hard drive cages to make this power supply fit. This will leave you with 3 3.25 inch hard drive bays.

If you can handle using only 3 3.25 inch bays that is fine (get 5.25->3.25 adapters if you need more. Otherwise I recommend a V-2100B case, which will have room for 12 HDDs, and will not require removing anything, because it doesnt have the middle fan piece like the 101-B.

So basically V-1100 and remove one of the HDD cages, or the V-2100 and you should be fine.
