Is it a big performace hit from cas2 to cas2.5 on an nForce2 MoB? I probably will Not OClock. I have a 2100XP+ cpu, and in a year or so I'll upgrade to the highest processor the board can take. I understand that It's best to install two sticks of the same sdram. If so then why? The cas2 is very expensive. I thought that I could go with PC2100 cas2.5, then when I upgrade to a 333fsb processor I would get a higher grade of memory. I have about $150 for memory and I just don't know what to do. I sure could use some help.

You can always get the higher mhz memory and use it at a lower speed with lower timings (DDR266 @ cas2, or DDR333 @ cas 2.5)almost all the time

I guess what your saying is buy like pc2700 or 333 at cas2 it will work but not at the higher FSB untill I upgrade. Thats fine but I would like to go with 2 sticks of 256mb, and I don't think $150 is enough moolah.

exactly, it willwork at the lower speed with highest settings, the rated speed with the high settings and probably higher with lower settings.

Yeh, Newegg.com is $98 for PC2700 cas2, or $104 for PC3200 cas2....both are 256mb sticks
