To ID the RAM you have you should post the numbers that are on the module. Someone may know how to decode it. Better yet go to www.crucial.com and look up the info yourself to be sure.

CAS 2 SDRAM is memory that can be run without a problem at a specified memory bus speed at CAS/RAS settings of 2-2-2 in your BIOS setup program. All memory will run at 3-3-3, which is like a default value. E.g., "PC133 CAS 2 SDRAM" will run @ 2-2-2 at a memory bus of 133MHz.

The CAS & RAS settings in your BIOS control the timing of signals with respect to the RAM. Your PC will perform faster if you can set the CAS & RAS BIOS parameters to 2-2-2 typically. However, if the RAm is not up to it you may have to change the settings to something like 3-3-3 for the PC to be stable. The best memory modules will run at 2-2-2 at very high bus speeds, but lesser quality RAM will not.

Check your BIOS settings for the CAS & RAS settings. If they're at 2-2-2 leave them alone. If not change them to that. If the PC acts up, then set them back as before.

If you are overclocking you may find @ 2-2-2 that, as you raise the FSB speed, you may have to go to 3-3-3 to obtain stability.
