cas latency

not anything you can notice like "WOW"
but slight difference in benchmarks yes
it's not a huge deal if you can't run CAS2 though, it only helps in squeezing every last bit out of the system.
 
It depends on mostly two things:
1. what application you use mostly
2. and memory controller: onchip (mobo) vs. on-die (cpu)

from the above, lower latencies gain favorable performance in most content creation applications. gaming favors higher bandwidth as most benchmarks show.

same thing goes with controller: higher memory bandwidth is more important if mem controller is on the mobo chipset; not so much as lower timings.
