I am building a new rig and the memory is the only parts that I haven't purchased yet..

Here is what I have so far...

1. ASUS P8Z68 V/Pro (Z68 Mobo)
2. Sapphire 7850 (2gb memory)
3. Corsair 750TX PSU

I want to have 16gb memory... I am a web developer and use Photoshop all day long.

I am torn between (2x8) and (4x4) and price is not a contributing factor in my decision.

So... I have been looking on Newegg and see that the 2x8 is a little more cost, but like I said, that doesn't matter...

What does matter is that I see that if I go wit the 2x8 the CAS latency is 10 or 11 vs the 9 on the 4x4 sticks...

So.. in the grand scheme of things, would I notice any performance difference between 4 sticks of CAS 9 vs 2 sticks (2x8) of CAS 10 or 11?

I do plan to overclock a little but not much...

I think I would rather go with the (2x8) choice, but not if the CAS of 10 or 11 is going to degrade my performance.

Suggestions?

Thank you so much!

latency is a thing of the past .. if you can run it at T1 command rate, that's all you need.

RAM is something you need "enough" of. not enough is really bad. but "more than enough" does nothing extra. back when systems had 2x256mb, freeing up ram as soon as possible was good. today you can buy 16gb of ram for peanuts .. why even bother juicing it.
(pretty sure Z77 boards go up to 8x8Gb= 64Gb ram)
