CAS 2 memory worth it?

I was looking building a new system and while looking at memory I found that CAS 2 memory is about twice the price of CAS 3 memory. The question is, is it worth it? If I'm paying $85 for 512MB of CAS 3 DDR400 memory, what performance improvement is there to paying $170 for CAS 2 DDR400. Would I benefit more by buying two 512MB CAS 3 DIMMs thereby having much more memory for caching applications and data?

If its a matter of one stick of cas2 vs 2 sticks of cas3, DEFINETLY get the two sticks. You'll notice much more tangible benefits from having 1gb of memory.

Totally agree.

Go to CAS 2.5, about same price as CAS 3.
Those double priced CAS 2 is not real CAS 2, you need to raise the voltage to make it runs at CAS 2.

Anyway, if you still want to get CAS 2, consider Kingston and Crucial's, they're cheaper.
