I have a stick of of generic Samsung DDR 2700 that's CAS 2.5. I was wondering if I could run it at CAS 2.

most likely it will run cas2 with no problems (cas2 is faster then 2.5)

you may want to download memtest86 its a great little utility that tests the system memory... i use it all the time when i overclock ram to make sure the memory isnt causing any errors while running out of spec

the specs for most samsung sticks are CAS 2 at DDR266 and CAS 2.5 at DDR333 and above.
I couldn't get CAS 2 above 266 myself...

Thanks for the input guys. I took off the heatspreader to just make sure, and yep they are Samsung and its rated 6ns. However, I have another question. I currently set the latency to 2. As for the timings, is 6,3,2 correct for CAS 2?

timings are flexible so long as your memory can take it.
2-5,6-2-2 are the best
2-5,6-3-3 are next...
2-6,7-3-3
2.5-5-3-3... etc.

Hmm...confused again. Could you help me match up the timings with the settings on my motherboard? I have an MSI 845 G MAX and here are my configuration.
CAS Latency =2
RAS Precharge =2 clocks
RAS to CAS Delay = 3 clocks
Precharge Delay = 6 clocks
Burst Length=8
This is ok for CAS 2?

BTW, my Precharge Delay can not go under 6 clocks.
