cartop cargo carrier help needed

I am looking for a cargo cartop that can mount next to a kayak on a roof. all i have seen are full car cartops

anyone have any suggestions?

what car do you have? if you have a bigger suv you could fit a smaller yakima rack and a kayak but if you have a car there's no way you can fit both. maybe stuff crap in kayak and hull?

What do you have now for a rack system? Stock? If so, you will have trouble with just about any cargo box unless you get a Yakima or THule rack system. If you get longer crossbars then get a Yakima Rocketbox or Spacebooster, you should have enough width to mount a kayak on, but barely.

its a dodge avenger, i figure there has to be something at least 2 feet across that can mount.

i plan on going to a rack place tomorrow but thought i'd check

both yakima and thule make long skinny cargo boxes.

but with a small car like an avenger, it still may not be narrow enough for both that and a kayak. you might also overload the roof too.

the weight shouldnt be a problem since cars are designed to flip over without collapsing. the width would surely be a problem.
