Has anyone been able to get this game running on Win2K Pro? According to NTCompatible, it works with the Win2K application compatibility update but so far, it doesn't work for me, returning an "abnormal program termination" error.

On the other hand, if I try APCOMPAT.EXE, I get "Error: MSVCRT.DLL is not compatible with Win32s".

Nobody playing this game (yeah I know it's old already...)?

I've patched it to 1.01, BTW.....

I still can't get it running despite having downloaded and installed (using the batch file) the compatibility update.

Can anyone give me specific instructions, from getting the setup program to do a full install, to actually getting the game executable running?

Thanks,

After you install the game, try this:

Find out what the short filename is (ie the 8.3 filename. Go to a command prompt and type dir /x). Change the Target in your shortcut to "runcompat.exe Win98 whatever.exe", where whatever.exe is the 8.3 filename. Don't change the Start In value.

Use ComPat admin, select CART racing from the list of apps, go to the Database menu, choose "Test run", browse to the exe. Choose ok.

By way, this is a legal version and not a cracked version right?

Yeah, this is a legal version that came with my MS Force Feedback racing wheel. Actually I'm kinda stumped too as to why it can't run - from everything that I've read, it should run okay since it even supports NT 4.0 with SP5.

Anyway, I've also tried the Compat Admin and it didn't work too.

I guess I'll have to wait until I go back to my hometown sometime soon to pick up UbiSoft's F1 Racing Sim that I left over there and live on Need For Speed 3 at the moment. Thanks anyway for your help.
