What kind of cars does everyone drive. Do you like them. Would you buy them again? Favor foreign or detroit iron?

I have an Acura RSX Type S and I love it to pieces. I swear by Japanese cars and I like germans but they are too expensive for me right now.

96' Civic LX 4 doors, with 215 000km's on it, I love it, but I don't like the new generation civics.

It's been a very good car.
I would buy another one if I can find one in good condition for the right price, discontinued in 1996.
I prefer Detroit Iron, looking forward to the 2005 Mustang GT.

Yeah I love it; lots of room, good stereo, smooth shifting, good power, cheap insurance.
If I were to buy a new car, I'd buy an import. If I were to buy used, I'd definetely go domestic since their resales are usually pretty poor.

1987 Toyota Supra Turbo
5-speed, sports package, 135k

I like it, it's a ton of fun to drive and you don't see a lot of them. It's also rear wheel drive, that's a requirement for me. I would not have any reservations about getting another one, but they're not the easiest car in the world to work on. They also aren't overly common, which is good. I like foreign and domestic cars on a case by case basis.

'95 Cadillac STS - (88,000 miles) This car is really fast, I like it, really dark blue, no chrome trim, 16" wheels, burns out when floored (traction control doesn't work that great), already had to pay $2300 to fix the transmission, the idler pulley snapped and left the bolt in the engine block (bypassed that pully all together), sometimes the left headlight/blinker notification will not work as well/stay on, the trunk doesn't close automatically anymore, the stock speakers blew but I fixed them by gluing the center cap back on them (yeah; the center buldge thing came off...) as far as buying another one? I want an eldorado...regardless of the problems it may give me.

'93 Thunderbird LX V8 - (195,000 miles) Damn nice car! Tons of power (No cats; perf. tune up; timing changed) Original engine, original transmission, been in 16 wrecks and still runs absolutely perfect with no major repairs to engine or transmission. Oil changed only when I remembered it.

'97 Crown vic v8 - Just sold yesterday...

'89 Probe GT (48,000 miles) One of my dream cars, candy apple red, black trim, red interior (yuck), 5spd turbo, in the works.

'89 Probe GT (70,000 miles) Parts car for the above, but it's maroon

'89 Probe LX (180,000 miles) Ran great 'till the fateful day it was run over by a truck

My mom drives a mid '90s jaguar, my dad drives two '71 rancheros (he likes old cars), a '63 galaxie (his first car ever), and an '84 20ft bed ford custom, and I think he just bought an early '90's lincoln limo...but I'm not sure... He does have a full sized school bus that runs perfectly though :p That thing's pretty cool. He's also looking into buying three cars ($500 each) that don't work but don't need many repairs... a early 90's bmw, an inteprid, and some other car...

'00 Passat 1.8T. Love my car, though it needs to be chipped badly because it's kind of slow stock. Next car will definately be an Audi/VW or something German. German cars all the way, no love for domestic but Japanese cars are good too.

LOL, VW engines.....reliable....the car itself-not reliable. This will fall off, or the arm rest will break, or the starter will break...it's always something.

Audi is nice though.

2003 Mercury Marauder. I love this car. This car has all the room as a Ford Crown Vic, and enough power that you go 0-60 in 6.5 seconds (for a 4200 pound car, that isn't bad). This is a modern incarnation of a 60-70's muscle car. The car is a lot of fun to drive, and is smooth as silk, even at high speeds. I would definitely buy it again, although I do plan to keep this car for some time. I plan on only buying detroit muscle. American cars all the way for me. I love raw power, huge cars, and my cars body on frame design.

How many miles?

Only 24k because my commute is rather short. The main problems I've heard with the Passat are MAF failures and ocassionaly O2 sensor failures. My MAF did actually fail recently but it was replaced for free by the dealership (VW extended their warranty on MAF on all cars to 70k miles). I don't expect anymore issues, but I will have a VAG-COM handy to diagnose any engine codes soon.

My uncle also has a Passat, 1999, with a lot of miles and he loves the car. No problems and even I'm surprised since the 99 models are supposed to have weak control arms. He says the car is the first preference for everyone in the family, even though they also have an X5 (Maybe because the VW is a stick). Hell if it were me I'd take the X5 all the time, but who knows :)
