What is "bad", though?

My 5.7L grand Cherokee does much better than I expected, given it's EPA ratings, but I think most people would say it still gets bad mileage.

I would say this should be called "unexpected" gas mileage cars

I was very surprised how bad my i30 really was on gas

My 1988 Olds Custom Cruiser (5L V8) averages 17 but can get 21 highway if I keep the speed down.

My 1995 Taurus 3.8L gets 27-29mpg consistently on the highway. It still only has 50K miles on it.

I had an 87 Olds Cutlass w/ 307 V8 that would consistently get 25MPG on the highway
About the same as my 04 Impala w/ 3.4L V6 gets with this shitty winter gas

Buick LeSabre w/3800, driving on the freeway with over 200k miles on it, I could still get 30-31mpg @ 65mph.

City was a whole different story though, dropped into the high teens, low 20s.

I had a 99 WS6 Trans Am a few years back, with the 6-speed, and some minor mods and tuning I would get 30-32mpg on highway driving - 1700rpm at 80mph in 6th.

Yeah. My family has a 2001 F150 Triton v8 4wd which gets 21 - 22 on the highway. That surprised the crap out of me considering it gets 14 - 15 in the city.

Ford 4.6, 30mpg on the highway, it's in a t-bird.

Also I know of early 90's 302's at the top of their day in Crown Vics and Lincolns getting in the mid to high 20's.

My brother in law managed to pull 27-29MPG in his 4WD diesel Ram recently. It has some light mods to it, but he couldn't believe it either.

Yea I was about to say the same. My 01 C5 got better highway milage then my wifes old 4cyl Rav4

A lot of people with the manual cars can get over 30mpg with theirs.

GTO with the 6.0. I get 16-17 around town and 24 highway. It's a heavy car with a big motor. You'd think it would be a classic case of gas guzzling. but it's not too bad.

I have a 2002 Saturn L100 (midsize Saturn) and it gets 27 city and 33 on the highway. It is also pleasant to drive and has plenty of get-up-and-go for a four cylinder and an automatic.
