Cars and insurance.

I have a 4banger 91 Mustang, obviously not a sports car, but it looks nice and gets me from a-b with decent gas mileage for a 91 (32mpg easily + some with better gas). But insurance is 600 for 6 months on Liability only and I'm under 25 and male.

What car would be a nice car, get good gas mileage (at least as good as my Mustang), yet get me cheaper insurance? My insurance company tells me my car is considered a sports car (HOW?) and that getting a different car could lower the insurance by $100 or more.

I'm thinking of trying to sell my car and get something else. Any suggestions?

Thats not always true. I've only owned one four door and it wasn't any cheaper then the 2 doors I owned. Every car I owned was atleast $900 a year liability before I turned 24 and none of them were sports cars.

If your happy with the car is it really worth dealing with selling and buying a new one to save $200 a year. A 4 banger mustang isn't exactly worth much so are you going to be able to find something as nice for the same price you can sell it for.

BTW my 5.0l mustang is a little over $400 a year now 🙂.

Hmmmm, you make good points.
I might just keep it and just forget about selling it.
Wish I had a 5.0L 🙂 If I keep my car, hoping to do the normal 2.3Turbo swap into it (that a lot of 4banger owners do) ...

Decisions decisions...
I'll have to call the insurance company and see how much difference the above mentioned cars would do me as well...
