Carry it in a carpet lined box, and use a tshirt fresh out of the dryer to pack the excess space.

EDIT: You should be okay with it in a regular old bag, or just in the box loose. I've built at least dozen computers with the parts on my carpet floor, and have never had a problem.

ThatDumbGuy, you got really lucky. It is pretty dangerous to your components to leave them exposed to static as just a little charge can fry a component.

kikkle, if possible I would try and find an anti-static bag to carry it in, what kind of shop was it? If it was a mom and pop store I am sure they have plenty of bags that you could use.

Got really lucky only over a dozen times now. Guess there ain't enough static in my carpets, probably because they are so dirty.
