carrying a suit onto a plane

hi,

I'm flying out from Newark Airport in NJ to Buffalo, NY on Tuesday for a med school interview.

I bought a garment bag to carry my suit in.

Should my shirt also go into the garment bag? Should it be hung separate from the suit jacket? inside the suit jacket?

Furthermore, I don't fly much. Where can I hang the garment bag on the plane? Do I carefully lay it in the overhead?

thanks

I'd button the shirt onto the hanger and hang the coat overit with the pants under it. I've never had a time when they wont take the bag off my hands and hang it in the small closet thing toward the front of the plane. It will be opened when everyone exits the plane and you can pick it up there.

QFT. Just bring the garment bag on the plane (it doesn't even count as a carry-on) and hand it to the flight attendant. They'll hang it up in the front closet.

Not necessarily. Usually only first class passengers get the hanging option.

To the OP: Suits do not wrinkle, so just put it in your suitcase. You can iron your dress shirt at the hotel. If needed, you can also touch up your suit.

Don't stay up late and good luck!

And what happens when your luggage gets lost or delayed? 😉

Yup.

I went to my mom's asshole father's wake and funeral 2 weeks ago & took a garment bag, showed it to the flight attendants and was directed to the closet to place it. Just pick it up as you exit the plane and you're done. Put the shirt within the suit jacket.
