<< CULVER CITY, Calif. , 8:22 p.m. EDT June 21, 2001 -- Los Angeles television station KCBS has learned that legendary television actor Carroll O'Connor has died.
There was word late Thursday afternoon that O'Connor was pronounced dead at Brotman Hospital in Culver City.
The apparent cause of death was a heart attack.
O'Connor was pronounced dead at 3:20 p.m., hospital sources told KCBS.
The actor shot to stardom in the 1970s playing the cantankerous but lovable Irishman Archie Bunker on the CBS television series "All In The Family."
He followed up his success on that show with a spin-off sitcom called "Archie Bunker's Place," which ran four years.
Later, O'Connor starred in the police drama series "In The Heat Of The Night."
His work on that series earned him an Emmy in 1988.
He was 76. >>
Hope this isn't a repost but I searched and didn't find anything else. I love All in the Family and will miss O'Connor.
