Carputer Video Card Suggestions?

I'm building a computer for my car. So far I've got a P4 2.4B with 512ram. The MSI 845GEM has onboard intel video, but I dont think it will cut it.

The display is a Xenarc 7in lcd touchscreen w/ vga. I will primarily use this for an mp3 player, fm radio, and navigation. But on long trips it will be nice to have dvd playback or some game time.

My primary concern is good 2D quality, but I would like descent gaming perfomance for the occasional Need For Speed or FPS game. I do have a small power constraint, so a low power usage would be nice but not a neccesity.

I'm leaning toward ATI because of their superb dvd playback quality (8500LE or 9000). Any suggestions?

What about the 9600, when its released?
Its great for the image quality/DVDs/Occasional game.
Plus, it can be0 passivly cooled so it will not need cooling.
It doesnt use much power, i think.

Woohoo! Xenarc 7in touchscreen lcd came in today.

I don't think I need anything that powerful. I bought a ti4200 in the intention of playing games on my desktop when it came out. After GTA3, I have yet to use it for gaming.

Has DVD quality significantly improved b/w the 8500/9000 in the 9600? The dvd quality on my old Radeon 32mb ddr le was great. I didn't think it could get much better. The ti4200 looked like a step down in dvd quality but made up for it in 3d gaming.

As I type this message on the new screen, I realize it may be a little too small for gaming. Motherboard and other parts should be here by friday. I will run some test this weekend to see if its worth a vid card investment. I may just put in my old radeon.

The qualitys probably the same, maybe a bit better.
Just run a few tests on it. Even 640x480 on a small screen aint bad going.
