We are selling our home and need to recarpet the entire home. I'm estimating it is around 500 sq ft. How much should I expect to pay?

I want to keep it as cheap as possible.

Well how good of carpet do you want? The cheapest crap that will wear out on the new owners in less than five years?

Yes. It's a vicious cycle.

Dirt cheap carpet is around $1 a sq/ft if you hit up a remnant roll sale. Add in another $.40 or so a sq/ft for the pad, and then another $.70-$1.00 a sq/ft for installation.

It can be done for as cheap as ~$2.00 a sq/ft. So in this case you are looking at around $1,000.

But if you get something halfway decent you are looking more at $2,000.

The labor is the make or break part. Just depends on what you can get somebody in there for.
