So, I went to my parents for a long weekend last wednesday, got back on Sunday night. I found that I had forgotten to throw the milk out, so its been sitting in my fridge for 2 weeks. Anyway, i put it in the trash and put the trash bag next to my front door to take out later. I forgot, so when i woke up this morning my whole aprtment just stinks. When i find the source of the stench, the 2 week old milk has leaked into the trash, and some (not much, but enough!) has leaked onto the carpet.
So i scrubbed the affected area with soapy water, but it still stinks. I went home from work at lunchtime, and was nearly knocked flat when I opened my front door. So i scrubbed the carpet again with water and disinfectant, if only to change the odour to something more bearable. I also sprayed it with stuff called Fabreeze which is supposed to neutralise bad smells. Its a ground floor apartment so i cant leave my windows open.
Is there anything else I can do to get rid of the smell quickly?
