Carpal Tunnel Syndrome?

I think I might have started to get this. I can feel pins and needles in the top part of my main hand. No pain yet...I'm only 21. I do use the PC at home a lot and just started a job using one all day. It could just be dry skin on the top of my hand too. Anyone ever get the operation done to correct Carpal Tunnel?

My mom has it, kinda sucks, its not really bad with her so surgery is down the line. I would see a doc if i were you though.

i have to wear braces at night and im only 17, yeh, that sounds like it, if it falls asleep alot, wake up at night with it numb, and it might start hurting in your upper arm between elbow and shoulder. Those were my symptoms. braces saved me, did the nerve conduction test and no pernament damadge, yet.

get a second mouse, use your other hand for two weeks🙂 and then learn to switch hit. if its typeing.. eh, i dunno

Get a better mouse and keyboard if you can, look up proper posture and practice it all the time. Get up and walk around once an hour at least.

Carpal tunnel can be nasty stuff. I had the beginnings of it about 6 years ago from guitar playing, and it took a long time to get mostly better even though mine didn't get very bad. I still have trouble playing my guitar, or mousing, for more than about 20 minutes at a time, but the pain stopped.

You just have to make sure you keep your wrist "straight" when you type. It's easiest when you have a pad at the same height or higher than the keys, to lay your arm on. Laptops tend to have that going for them anyway.

From all the studies I've seen, there is no link between regular PC use and carpel tunnel syndrome. Regular PC use means switching from mouse to keyboard regularly.

Carpel tunnel instead typically occurs to people doing the exact same hand motion, 8+ hours a day, as a full time job.

Such as pointing and clicking a mouse 12 hours a day? 8 hours at work and 4+ on doom3/daoc? ;p
