Dunno about you guys but I played the hell out of the first couple of games, so I'm glad it's back in business. Just as long as they don't come up with anything like the PS/N64 abominations.

Probably the only game ever that's given me the butterflies IRL. Using the afterburner to hurtle off a building and not taking into account the oncoming cliffside sorta triggers that in you.

I also have a sudden urge to watch Death Race 2000...

Oh man I had such a blast with Carmageddon 2. I just hope they do this game justice. . . imagine what they could do with say the GTA 4 engine, and of course a soundtrack by Iron Maiden

Rutro I didn't notice square enix. Currently that is a bad omen, see Sup Com 2, final fantasy 13 & 14. They seem to have lost the passion for games.

it better be good. carmageddon 2 is still the best "racing" game ever on pc. its a damn shame you cant play it unless you have win95.....

they made another carmageddon movie too, its the same as the first death race movie, but with a bigger budget, bigger actors. still though, its a b list movie and i dont really think its that much better then the first death race.

btw, i didnt like the tdr2000 game at all.. i thought they ruined the physics and damage modeling in that game...

Was watching DR a couple weeks ago and remembered this game. We used to have a blast with this during lan parties. Best was when a friend of mine used a repeller on me to put me into a light pole, splitting my car in half.

I noticed that gog.com have made quite a few older games playable with even windows 7 so maybe there is a chance that they could get carmageddon 2 working with windows 7 or atleast windows xp

VG247 reports that a "source familiar with the matter" has shed some light on the rumored return of Carmageddon. According to the source, an unnamed company has purchased the Carmageddon rights from Square Enix, with an official reveal planned before E3, though it will not be shown at the convention. According to the recently discovered Carmageddon website countdown timer, the reveal is seemingly set for June 1. The game's developer hasn't been revealed, though Stainless Games seems a reasonable possibility given it developed the first two titles in the series.

The source adds that said website is not actually owned by Square Enix, seemingly despite Whois information to the contrary. Assuming the Carmageddon rights were only recently transfered from Square Enix, it's possible that the domain information has not yet been updated.

Sounds like better news. Possibly.

You can play it on XP for sure. You need to get a modified executable. There's also patch you need in order to run at high res. Haven't played it on Win 7 but I don't see why you couldn't.

It's actually fun and anything but a cheap knockoff. You should give it a try, you won;t be disappointed.
