Attracted to her or not, she was destroying the company. The employees did not like her, the management did not like her, and the stockholders did not like her. She even had a power struggle with a member of the Hewlett family. How dumb is that?

She sapped the creative life from the company and the workers lost morale. That is bad management any way you look at it. They made the right decision to can her.

yes, she's so worthless that she got a $21 million severance package.

They really wanted her out of there bad. Most CEOs, who even run their company into the ground, still get big severance packages.

Sounds like a normal woman to me. 😛

HP was an amazing company when it was ran by engineers.

The same can be said about quite a few companies out there. I think Apple is a good example of this. The engineers leave and the corporates took over, almost killing the company. As soon as the engineers take over again the company recovers.

One of the worlds most profitable car companies (based on profits per sold unit), Porsche is lead by an engineer who routinely pisses off the investor community because he doesn't like the quarterly report fetish of the stock market and sometimes just doesn't make one.
Doesn't stop his companies stockprice from climbing higher and higher.
