Why is it the mainstream media always seems to ignore stories like this?

HOUSTON -- One man is injured after a carjacking and shooting at a gas station in north Houston Saturday night.

Houston police responded to a shooting call around 11:15 p.m. Saturday at a Valero gas station on Jensen Drive at Reid Street in north Houston. Officials say two men jumped another man in the gas station parking lot and took the victim's Chevrolet pickup truck. Police say a witness then pulled out a gun and began shooting at the suspects, accidentally hitting the carjacking victim in the head.

The victim was transported to a nearby hospital where he remains in stable condition. Police say the witness who shot at the suspects picked up shell casings and left the scene. Police found the stolen pickup truck about a mile down the road but are still searching for the suspects.

Picked up the shell casings and left? He doesn't sound like a good guy. Using your gun to try and stop property theft, not sure I agree with that.

My guess is the thread title is intentional posting of misinformation in violation of the forum rules.

The shooter will be in jail soon, as he shotat fleeing suspects to punish them for stealing property, not to prevent them from hurting the victim.

I said in the other to be locked thread:

How can they be sure that shooter wasn't one of the carjackers? He sure knew enough to clean up his crime scene, which a guilty party would certainly want to do.

What title would you prefer? Good Samaritan picks up litter after taking out the trash?

And... that would be me. So do I get a medal, or a key to the dump, or something equally good for all my unsolicited litter picking? I even have some before and after pics, if the litter picking committee would like to consider me for a nomination.

Agreed. And I fail to see why the usual suspects need two such threads. This dual circle jerk may be gleeful and artistic, but will surely lead to sprains and hurt feelings, not to mention the lost work hours.

Well . . . maybe not so much that last one.

Title is still incorrect, "witness" became participant when he started shooting. To what capacity is the point of the thread. Thread title reported.

I would like to point out that not all of us are the same as the OP. Some of us just carry handguns for personal defence and keep a rifle in the house for freedom and democracy.

Can't remember the law, but from a thread years ago that you can actually use deadly force to protect property in Texas. Something about a guy coming out with a shotgun and blowing away some guy robbing his neighbor's house.

That one may have been two guys burglarizing the neighbor.

/this

he was shooting to kill someone fleeing. NOT defending the victim.

I said in the other to be locked thread:

that wouldn't surprise me that he was part of the carjacking. OR that he is a felon and shouldn't have a gun.

either way this asshole will hopefully be in jail soon.

Based on ABC 13's reporting of the incident the thread title is still wildly incorrect.

http://abc13.com/news/witness-who-fired-on-carjackers-sought-after-nw-houston-attack-/1004386/

HOUSTON --
A man was carjacked and beaten after he walked out of the Valero gas station late Saturday night in northeast Houston. But someone else who witnessed the crime helped end the attack.

The attack happened on Kelley at Jensen around 11pm.

A man said he was hit on the head near a bus station on the edge of the parking lot. A witness saw what happened and as two suspects got in the man's truck to escape, the witness pulled out a gun and shot at the departing truck.

Why is this the more likely scenario than an overzealous good guy with a gun? Poor aim? This same guy would be hailed as a hero by you same folks if he had hit one of the fleeing carjackers instead.
