Wife and I just turned 40. Looking for a break from the Chicago winter in late January next year. Want to sit on a beach in the sun, prefer Caribbean or Mexico. Any recommendations? We are trying to get help from a travel agent but they are not really much help - too many options. Asked friends and coworkers and got a mix of different ideas.
Would appreciate any help from the ATOT masses while I continue researching...
Priorities are:
Beach has to be incredible, this is #1 most important
Great snorkeling needs to be available close by
Prefer all-inclusive, or somewhere with good choice of restaurants close by
Service needs to be excellent
Spa would be nice
Adults-only preferred but not a must
Clean rooms
We don't need a massive amount of amenities or beach activities but it would be nice to have a good selection of outside excursions. Prefer high-end but not $500 a night just for hotel.
Beaches Turks and Caicos seems to be the best option - although the all-inclusive price of approx $4500 is a bit high - and seems like we would be paying for a lot of stuff we wouldn't use - kids clubs, water slides, etc
Want to stay in the $3k to $3500 range including flights, hotel, food, etc.
