My freshman year in college is almost over and I still haven't picked a major. I'm really not that much closer in picking a career path than I was a year ago. If anything, the choices have broadened. I would definately choose a job in the IT field if not for the unemployment of IT workers across America. This has further complicated my decision. Accounting seems like it would be a good decision for me, yet the professional setting of accountants gives me pause. First, let me tell you some of my likes/dislikes:

I:
love computers
love to read, almost as much as I love computers
like math - to an extent
would very much dislike a job that would have an ultra professional setting
would like to be self-employed after getting a dozen or so years behind me in a career
don't want to be flipping burgers because the field I go into goes belly-up
relative ease of finding a job (see IT field)

I hope that gives you some insight into what kind of career I would want. Right now, I'm thinking about going to a psychiatrist/psychologist to get a test done to help me choose a career. Maybe with some help from people over the internet I won't have to do that. If you want, you can post what career path you've chosen and the decisions that helped you get there. I'm sure anything would be helpful at this point.

Do you like to write? If I were you I'd do a dual major IT/IS and Literature/Writing.

What exactly do you like about computers? That's kind of broad to say you like computers.

IT will come back eventually, if not to the levels of a couple years ago.

I'm a systems analyst who works with financial systems (and accountants). Our former Controller said something a few years back that stuck with me.

"Accounting isn't supposed to be fun, it's supposed to be a job".

That tells me everything I need to know.

As long as you finish most of the "elective courses" in 2 years ... you can complete a lot of majors (concentrated classes) in 2.5 years... 4.5 years total, which is still good. 😉 What about CIS or MIS ?

What do you want out of life? Money I'd get an MBA from a real school like Wharton of Chicago. Helping people, and work anywhere you choose to I'd be a dentist or Nurse. Like reading and law well then law. Like math and science then I'd do something in engineering or materials science. Or you could just choose liberal arts which is the fun route and great if you're independantly wealthy or don't care about $.

Just about everything about them. It really doesn't matter what I'm doing; fixing things (drivers, software, etc..), building a computer from scratch, troubleshooting hardware, whatever. I hate using pen and paper for anything anymore. I'd rather type it out, no matter how trivial it is. The only bad thing about computers is the extra weight it adds on 😀.
