The recent slow down in construction and oil/gas finally affected me. For the last 4 years I was indentured as a plumber to a geothermal company and recently I went back for the final session which end in a week (plumbing & gas journeyman). Luck has it they are laying off 65% of the work force and I'm one of the casualty (I think that I would still have a job if I weren't going to school).

I don't mind IT work but I can't stand office politic and the stress that associated with it. I absolutely love my HVAC/plumbing/gas fitting job because it give me room to be creative, problem solving, and the freedom to make my own call.

1.Should I stick it out and hunt for a job as a plumber/heating specialist (look like it going to be a rough ride for the next 2 years).

2.Or, brush up my IT skill and get back into database/network security (BSsc 5y exp.)

3. Or, try to get a non existent industry product designer, which is my first degree/love but have no exp.
