Career Choices

Well, I just found out that after my position is eliminated, I have two choices.

Take an Operations position (zzzzzzzzzzzzzz)
Quit

They won't lay me off or give me a package or anything. And I doubt seriously there are any help desk positions in the Denver area that pay what I make as a Business Systems Analyst.

They offered to let me keep my job if I moved to either California or Illinois, but my daughter has a breathing issue that goes away here in Denver, but shows up in spades in CA. So I'm stuck here for now.

I flat out told them that if I take the Ops job it would only be until I find something better. (I know, I'm too friggin honest. Shot myself in the foot.)

Sigh. Off to Dice...

Wow. Didn't you just relocate there in the last year for the job? You've fairly well documented the struggles you've had. Is your wife going to push to move back to CA?

Any way you look at it, the situation sucks and I hope it works out the best for you.

Thanks.

Yeah, I moved here from CA a year and a half ago on my own dime. I loved working here and was really torn up when we had to lay off most of the people. They then screwed me and the few others left by not laying us off. So that means they wanted to keep us as a "transition team". Sucks.

I wonder if there would be any point in fighting this legally? Make them give me the same package they gave all the other layoffs since the job they're offering me has little to do with my previous position. Probably not.
