Career Choices

2 weeks ago my company laid off a huge chunk of the company, including all of my department but me and one other person.

Today I found out they're moving my job to Chicago (I'm in Denver currently). I moved to Denver from California for this job a year and a half ago. So my options are:

Stay where I am and move over to Network Engineering or something similar
Move back to California in the 909 and keep doing my BSA job on the help desk
Move to Chicago and keep doin gmy BSA job on the help desk
Tell the company to fsck off and find something else

I love help desk, and really don't look forward to getting back into the server side. Bores me to tears. But in Denver I doubt I'll find a position in help desk that pays me what I'm making now (and I can't live on less). Moving doesn't thrill me at all either.

Thoughts?

IMO, you're going to have to find a career beyond helpdesk either way. It seems a career path with limits mobility and opportunity. That's my opinion though.

I'd personally just try to find something else. I wouldn't make a move like that unless I had an opportunity to truly grow my career. Moving for the same job seems pointless.
