I'm really confused as to where I'm going - and I'm running out of time. I've already wasted a year and a half in general college ed (basically slacking and wasting my time, not learning anything or getting anywhere), and I'm 18yrs old. I don't want to waste any more time. I want to know what to do! I thought I wanted to go into the IT field, since I have lots of computer experience, but I'm thinking it might not be for me. I've been doing a lot of part time tech work here and there, and I don't see the type of hands on stuff I like as being a career, for some reason. I definitely don't want to be a programmer. I don't think I have the mind for it, and I would never be able to sit in front of the screen writing code all the time. Chatting. email and AT for hours is one thing - programming is another entirely, and I don't think I'm cut out for it. So I'm thinking, if not IT - then what? I have absolutely no idea, and i'm scared, cause I never really gave it much thought.
What would you consider? I recently started playing in a band (lead guitar). I know I can't rely on that, but I should try my best in it, in case it ever really picks up, right? That'd definitely be awesome if I made a good living that way. Otherwise, I don't see much though. Entrepreneurial stuff? Friend wants to start up a high performance car shop a few years down the line. Should I join in on that? If so, what should I do in the meantime to be best prepared for that?
I wish there was something that just stood out to me, like it does with some people, and you just know you have to do that, like it's your calling.. but I don't think there's anything like that for me. 🙁
Ideas?
