So today I went in and interviewed for sales positions at the local Toyota dealership and the local Kia dealership. Both interviews went well, I think that I hit it off beter with the guy from Toyota. At the end of the interview for Toyota, the sales manager asked me back tomorrow for a second interview with the owner of the dealership. He gave me the impression that unless the owner hates my guts, then I basically am hired. When I got home, the guy from Kia called, and told me the same thing, and now I've got a second interview there tomorrow afternoon, he was looking for a decision on the spot, but I told him he'd have to wait untill after the sceond interview...
The Kia interview went well, the only reason I think it went worse than the Toyota one was that the sales manager at Kia asked more challanging questions, to which my replies I felt were good, but not great.
First let me say that I think I will do well in either position, and that the pay (commision rate) is about the same...
The Toyota dealership is the bigger of the 2 with about 10 full time salespeople, compared to Kia's 1 or 2 sales people. Because Toyota has a lager variety of cars, and a more established name, I there will be many more customers at Toyota. However I think that at either dealership, I will have a decent oppertunity to sell cars.
I've never sold cars before, but I've got plenty of sales expirence, I think that the training at Kia would be more personal, and I'd be given more individual attention throughout. I'm sure that Toyota's training would be sufficient.
As far as advancment oppertunity, Kia will be looking for a manager in the next 6 months, I'm not sure about Toyota, but even if a management position opened up, there would be lots of other people ahead of me in line for that.
I keep going back and fourth. I'm truly in a pickle here, although I guess it's better than not having a job at all.
If anyone has any personal advice, questions to ask, or other info, it is much appreciated...
Cliffs
1. Got hired at Toyota to sell cars
2. Got hired at Kia to sell cars
3. Each has it's own +/- 's (see above)
