I'm stepping down and leaving the world of academia at the end of the semester. I don't know much else besides academics, but I'm sick of it and all of the politics involved. So, I've been considering career choices, and thought I would ask people on here as some of you probably have these jobs. I've been considering advertising, human resources, and marketing as they all relate, somewhat, to psychology.
Any input as to how you like your job, what it involves, etc. would be greatly appreciated. Mostly I'm interested in human resources, as it seems to be a direct application of psychological principles mixed in with some business (which I did minor in, way back when).

TIA

If you enjoy research and what not you may be able to get into some type of lab deal. I dont know how common outside of a university setting that is but its worth a shot.

you will find those politics that you hate in every job (ie they will not go away by simply changing careers)

I'm not sure where in academia you were working, perhaps you should look at consulting in your expertise.
