Care package for a college student

Any suggestions? Thinking around $50, maybe split it up so I send $20 in cash and $30 worth of goodies or something like that, just not sure on specifics. I was initially thinking some food, but I'm not sure what keeps well through shipping.

I guess sending straight up cash would be best and easiest, but it feels a bit lacking.

What are/have been some of the most appreciated gifts you received while in college?

as a college student, i expected this to be the only care package you knew:

Ear plugs and a hand gun

Well ear plugs anyway. Lack of sleep and constant noise are a major problem for students.

That's what I figured, just was wondering about alternates. It is a lot easier too.

I doubt that will happen, but if it does I wont have a fit.

A $50 freebie from home? Doesn't matter if they're ALWAYS the designated driver and, a "good" kid. It's still even money that it will get spent on beer and clubs. If you're fine with that then, no problem. Just don't be naive. 🙂

I always appreciated receiving food. Money was invariably spent on partying. You could do some gift cards such as $20 to Applebees or something and $30 or so to Target or Walmart.

Anything instantly edible is always welcome. A large care package full of candy, chips, homemade cookies goes way further than the monetary equivalent.

1. Breakfast bars/Pop Tarts/etc. I never woke up early enough to get a good breakfast and these beat nothing at all.
2. Vitamins. I never ate right - it's hard to not go for comfort food when you're constantly stressed out.
3. Office supplies. Not having to scrounge for a stapler, staples, Post-It notes, etc. is a convenient time-saver.
4. Cash. For beer.

A bottle of Tequila and condoms if for a guy.

A bottle of Tequila, condoms, a handwritten note/letter, and a makeup goody bag* if for a girl.

* Must contain at least the following: Lip gloss or Burt's Beeswax lip balm and eye shadow.

If you send cash it will be used for alcohol. If you're cool with killing their brain cells do that. If you insist on it not being used on booze then don't send cash, go with sweets and salty snacks. Don't go for "real" food, for dorm rooms kids want munchies.

My school set these up. Just after we moved in they sent letters to our parents, and the ones that wanted to send us one just sent the school $x. Then we got letters in our mail boxes at rez telling us to go to a room to pick it up.

It had stuff like toiletries, candy, vitamins, a t-shirt, etc.
