Tried this for the first time today:

Did a 5 minute warm
30 sec sprint, 30 sec slow.
45 sec sprint, 30 sec slow
60 sec sprint, 30 sec slow
45 sec spring, 30 sec slow
1 min spring, 30 sec slow
1:15 min spint, 30 sec slow
1:30 min sprint, 30 sec slow
1:45 min sprint, 30 sec slow
2:00 min sprint, 30 sec slow

same in reserse.

5 min cool down.

I did this for just before lunch and I was whipped the rest of the day.

I think I overdid it.

Basically a modified HIIT? If it's your first time you need to start easy and build your endurance. 4-5 "sets" so to speak should be good for someone just starting it (90% of max capacity for sprints, like 60-70% for slow)

I've been doing a lot of cardio for the last year and I just wanted to vary my routine.

My weight, body fat, and conditioning are all good.

I would like to decrease the frequency of cardio workouts. Right now I'm going about 6 days/week.

I'm not sold on HIIT.

Distance runners do it longer ;)
