What card do you guys think is suitable for a approx 295w psu with a 17.5a 12v rail? Would a 7750 be ok? It will be an i5 with two hard drives/dvd drive and no overclocking.

So I take it thats the only 12V rail? It doesn't have two?

An HD7750 can draw as much as 6.25A, although likely less. Its limited to 75W by the PCI-E spec.

What i5 do you have? If its a 95W model, that is about 8A right there. That puts you over the 80% load mark that you typically do not want to pass, and that does not include mobo usage, drives, etc.

So in short, get a PSU with a stronger 12V rail.

Well it will be ivy bridge so I'm thinking the 77W model. And yes, I'm sure it only has a single rail. It's not for me, I'm just helping out.

If its a 77W, thats 6.4A, plus 6.25A, so you are looking at 12.65A just for those. It may work fine, depends on the quality of that PSU. And with such a small 12V rail, i am thinking its not an award winner.
